Good suggestion Will85, nice car for sure.  I'd be keen apart from the theft element.

Unfortunately I've heard they also tend to be police magnets to a certain extent - not that I really care as I'm not a criminal, but it would get frustrating after a while...I've heard a lot of the RWD Nissans get this treatment.  A mate owned a 180SX a couple of years ago and was always getting pulled over while just moseying along in traffic. Ended up getting sick of the attention and got rid of it, even though he was far from a hoon.

Good thing about the Fiestas is that people massively underrate them in this respect.  Then again, on our Mt Glorious cruise in March we all got pulled over and checked out by the highway patrol - fun experience hey Jeff?

I reckon I'd love an MX5 for the handling, but not so quick in a straight line and they have an unfortunate reputation as a hairdresser's car...

hahaha first time i got pulled over  Wink asked me to slow down around the corners and to enjoy my drive safely. BLAAAAHHH Cheesy about half an hour later was back in racing mode.

not a fan of MX5 its like the COUGAR MOBIL

I'll agree, that's classic, it'd be like a big go kart!  Talk about driving through the seat of your pants...

I know a few guys who've used them as track cars and absolutely loved them because they are simple but awesome fun - my kind of car.  I think from memory they run the same 1.8 twin cam as in my Laser, and those motors go forever. I have heard they also make a great date car, since apparently chicks dig a convertible, but the trade off is the suspect looks you get when driving with a mate...

The good thing is these things are low key - you'll get lots of knowing smiles from driving enthusiasts, but the average person on the street will have no idea.  Kind of like with the Fiesta really - so many people think that they're nothing more than a tarted up hatchback (like a Swift), until you hit a bit of twisty and scare the crap out of them...it never gets old  Wink

Edit...
Same here Jeff, first time I got pulled over in the Fiesta.  Got told to be careful because the road was wet in places.  Apparently 75km/h in an 80km/h zone is too quick...

Yup, the stripes are great but kind of scream 'pull me over'.  Lucky there are a lot of other striped cars deflecting attention away from us  laugh

Good job with the chick mate...that's awesome.  A friend of mine (a girl) told me the other night that the Fiesta is "a girl's car" - she likes it though (esp. after riding shotgun on a Glorious run).  My explanation was that I don't need to compensate by having a fully sick Silvia or a Commonbore  Cool

female friend (back when i had stripes): OMG~! i love your car....its so cuuuute!!! It's like a Mini!!!
Me: That's it, you're getting out and walking   Tongue

Maybe its because my one is red...makes it a bit more girly. Not so girly above 3000rpm though. That's when she shut up  Tongue

First time i got pulled over, i got a ticket...my fault since i was running late. The officer was nice though, took 10km/h off my official radar recorded speed so i only ended up with 1 demerit point and $84 fine. I think the fact that i wasnt in the usual hoon imports played a part in that

Ha ha, yeah I get 'it looks like a Mini' quite a lot. One person asked me 'is that a Mini?' Very tempted to reply 'does that Ford badge right there on the bonnet look anything like a Mini badge??

I have the same “mini” quote too with the stripes. It looks like a mini, but the lightes arent round, the roof isnt flat with gay flags on it and it doesnt have a square bum.
