Dude why did you get rid of the Mi16, that thing is a beast.

Yeah, I sometimes ask myself why I did that... but i think it was a smart decision in the end.
It was a corker of a car, and I was considering spending serious money on it. Just going to town on the thing, engine rebuild, lsd, coilovers, etc etc but questioned why i would spend that kind of money on a 20 year old car. I was spending too much time and money at the mechanics keeping the thing on the road as it was, i was after something newer and more reliable.

In the space of about 3 months, the car was on a tow truck 3 times for small electrical problems. It was a problem i didn't need with the amount of driving i was doing.

I was not even planning on getting an XR4 until i drove one... XR4 is a hoot to drive, perhaps doesn't have the same raw feel but they don't make cars like that anymore.

I haven't ruled out buying a 205GTI and putting an Mi16 engine in it, or getting another 405 Mi16 one day though.

Totally understandable, I was the same I didn't intend on buying my car but I walked in to ask if it was possible with my earnings and walked out with one on order not even having driven it.

That will be a sweet little beast if it happens, on par with the N13 pulsar with the engine from the 180SX in it.

I have driven one, and they are quite lively and an absolute ball. 800kg car with 108kw and the ability to add another 15-20kw fairly easily?... hell yeah. you can get ones already converted for under $10K.

the only problem i have with a 205 is the size of the car, it isn't exactly packed with safety features and the doors are about as thick as a deck of cards  Grin

My first car was a Peugeot 106 Quiksilver 1.4Li (for 2 years, until I go to Australia) ! What an awesome first car ! Cheesy
Then, I bought my black '06 Fiesta ST !

My wish, for my next car, is a Focus ST (or the new Fiesta (ST of course... or RS, if there is...), still hesitating... Smiley ) !

ps : I'll put some pics later Smiley

*Got my P's in 97 and my first car was a 1980 VC Commondoor.
*Had that about a year and got myself a brand new 1998 Lancer GLXi coupe.
*Had that about 8 months before falling in love with the Lexus SC400, so I imported a Toyota Soarer V8 Limited from Japan (was the first one in Canberra at the time Wink )
*Had that car for a couple years before buying a house with my (at the time) girlfriend, so sold the Soarer and we got a Lancer VRX 2 litre Sedan.
*We broke up about a year later and I let her keep the Lancer so I could go and get a WRX! It was an MY99 and I got the full 3" exhaust done, APS cold air and piggyback computer.  It was a beast!!
*Decided it was time to try the house thing again, this time with a new girl (shoulda learned) - Sold the WRX and we bought a Kia Sorento 4WD and a Kia Rio hatch, both brand new and black.
*We broke up, sold the house and I went and bought a Ver. 6 STi WRX with my split of the money...  Went and put some 18's on it and a nice stereo and I loved it to bits.
*Moved to Sydney and couldn't stand paying so much for insurance and decided it was time to move on...  Found and fell in love with the XR4 - so I went and got one!

So, 8 cars in 12 years.

1972 Corolla 1200 2-door (jellybean mags, nice tyres & hotdog) - lovely little reliable car, very tinny though
1972 XA Falcon 500 sedan manual (ultra reliable, never a problem)
1981 XD Falcon GL manual (Monza Red, bought new, had for 12 years, once again ultra reliable, still alive & in the area)
Got married ...
1995 corolla CSX hatch manual (wife's car really, never a problem)
1982 XE Fairmont Ghia ESP 302 auto (my toy, just a lovely reliable car)
1995 EF Futura 5-speed (very reliable, never a problem but the birds loved the colour)
2002 AU XR6 5-speed (nice car, written off unfortunately)
2001 KQ Laser sedan manual (now the daughter's car, 170,000 plus kms & is still reliable & keeps on keeping on)
2004 BA MkII XR6 5-speed (currently owned & does everything I ask & is reliable as ...)
2004 WP Fiesta Zetec (purchased recently, mainly for the wife but I love it)

Best of both worlds now; the BA for distance cruising usually trips between 800 & 900 kms, heaps of room for the family & ALL the stuff we take away.  Still returns mid 9's on trips when driven sensibly so not bad for a 4l 182kW 382 Nm Big car!  The little Zetec is our around town car which is perfect, easy parking, nippy & economical.  Nice little car for up to 4 adults without much luggage.  Horses for courses: the Zetec is brilliant around town & short trips (love it) while the Falcon is just so cruisy over long trips on country roads with 4 or 5 on board & the boot packed to the rafters.

Cheers
