Thumbsup Sure fella, each to their own...I don't find 10 megawatt Diesels that you can actually drive an Xr4 in though the inspection port and park on top of the piston crown overly aesthetically pleasing, but in form and function they are a beautiful thing until they spear in at 1350Hrs on a Friday Wink ).

That's just an engineering call, its not always about the looks, but with those wheels reckon you would get some Thumbsup

Wink It sounds a strange thing to do, but Lukey is correct here.

The DU-Sulzer 12RT A96C on Emma Maersk for example actually has the fitters go in the block (after a Confined Spaces entry, remember safety first) and do the intial de-carboning of the crown, bore and chamber head with a 9 inch grinder( with a whopping great extractor and collector hooked up as this crap goes everywhere). These guys wear more PPE than Darth Vader (and actaully resemble him too when finished Wink ).

I have heard blokes reckon they hone the bores with a grinder but thats an urban myth, Roll Eyes as a custom jig is set up central to each crown an slow moving carbide tool tips are spiral rotated around the bore from top down. This can take up to 2 days to complete a cycle. This is ussually more cost effective than the disasembly required to removed the cylinder liners.

Smiley..Fortunately the maintenance and up keep of the above excalibur 454 CUI and our own ricers is more like model building than the Macro application Smiley
