Hey, What do you do?

My name is Alex, I don't have a job but have worked before as a valet parker and a car detailer. I study Btech of Motor-sport at university and enjoy cars in every aspect. I want to race my car more and keep it and turn it into a track hack!

This is last year's car and is called "Scarlett" because of her awesome rack and tidy rear end.

So I ask "What do you do?" Hopefully you guys have cool jobs and hobbies! Please post pics if you can Cheesy

Hey All,

I'm Andrew or ACE for short. I'm 37 and I run my own Swimming Pool Servicing business, ACE Poolcare, in Sydney.

I'm a sailmaker (yachts, etc....) by trade and have also spent 5 years working for Revolution Racegear here in Sydney before moving into the swimming pool game.

Cars have been in the my blood since day one. My first ride in a Rotary was at 4 days old coming home from hospital as a new born in dads RX2!

I have 2 race cars in the build atm....... A Mazda RX323 with a 13B PP in it (I will hopefully have that ready for Maruluan) and a 1979 Mitsubishi Lancer Hatch that we are building to do Targa Tasmania, Classic Adelaide, etc..... in 2013 or 14.

If i'm not doing something that involves cars, you'll find me out yacht racing on Sydney Harbour or hanging around with Ellen, Bubz..... My better Half Grin, friends and family and generally having a good time.

ACE

I'm Will (as most of you already know). Did pharmacy at uni but didn't want to work in a glorified takeaway shop selling drugs so i stayed back to do a PhD researching asthma inhalers. I sorta tweak their designs so i use CAD and computational fluid dynamics a fair bit. (would have loved to simulate the airflow over a xr4 Tongue) Just finished that a few months ago and currently being paid to research at uni as a Research Associate  Smiley

I love football too but I'm a bit past my prime now so i stick to just watching it at insane hours at night. Loved cars since i was born and I like anything with wheels and a motor that isn't just "transport"

The xr4 is the first car i've bought. Proud member of the anti-rice association as all my friends drive rice-mobiles like s15's, integra type R, honda jazz(wtf), honda preeeeeeelude. Love chucking it around on a track day. Would love to do it more frequently.

Hey guys,

I'm another Andrew (there are a few of us on this forum!) - I am 23 and work as a town planner for an infrastructure company in Brisbane.  Basically like SimCity on a large scale  supercool

I'm a massive motorsport nut (like a lot of people here!), and I run a Laser TX3 in Autocross / Dirt Sprints at Willowbank (pic attached).  The Fiesta would be a lot quicker but I am keeping it on the tarmac for now.  I am a big fan of cars which are underrated but punch above their weight, hence why I got the Fez.

I am also club secretary at the Ipswich West Moreton Auto Club...if anyone is keen for a track hire, I can assist  Thumbsup

BTW Will, agreed on the rice thing - a mate of mine has a Prelude, I can confirm that the Fiesta destroys it pretty much everywhere that it counts...

I'm Matt  and I'm an alcoholic (oops wrong group) 2funny

I'm 29 and work as an IT network support (I tried to swear because I'm unintelligent). been into cars since I can remember, I think knight rider and dukes of hazard are to blame. Have previously been a part of the neeesaan s13 brigade but that was just a money pit and a half.
I got the xr4 because I thought a change would be good and I couldn't afford an xr5 at the time.

If i'm not lurking car websites or driving around I would usually be down the pub, at the movies or fing about on the ps3

I eventually want to get a 69 ss camaro. mmmmmmm old skool muscle

Colorado Red Fiesta 'ST'

« Reply #8 on: August 11, 2011, 07:04:29 AM »

Hi my name is Corey, and like all, have been into cars and the blue oval since I was knee high to a grass hopper, I am 34 (2 days ago actually) and work as a Network and PABX Engineer with a local Council here in Brisbane.

I grew up with my dad in Kombis and my mum in minis until our family owned business struck a deal with the local Ford dealer to supply Fords as company cars, so we had XD S packs, ESP, XF S packs Ghias and LTDs, then EA Ghias and LTDs, EB and EF XR6's, then we closed our business, but as a last foray into Fords, we bought an EL GT, the nicest of the lot.

I got the XR4/ST as an upgrade to my daily drive (WQ LX) because I didn't want to throw money away on it. I also have a Territory Ghia Turbo with a bit of work, that is the family hack!

Ahmen to that! love the looks on peoples faces when they get owned by  little Fez hehe.. or the ones that try and bait you into a run through some twisties thinking they got that (I tried to swear because I'm unintelligent) in the bag, only to give up 2 corners later, realising the futility  Evil

I eventually want to get a 69 ss camaro. mmmmmmm old skool muscle

i would LOVE a 69 Camaro, 67 Mustang fastback, or a 65 Corvette Stingray  smitten
mmmmm old skool muscle indeed!

Hey guys,

I'm Ellen. I'm 22 and ACE's (Andrew) better half!

I'm an Area Sales Manager for Novetec Building Products. Basically I sell bathroom & kitchen goods to stores. I'm a qualified make up artist though.

I haven't been into cars all my life, though they have grown on me over time! Before cars came into the picture motorcycles were my preference. In saying that I am the proud owner of my/our XR4! Dream car is a Torana.

You'll usually find me with Andrew, hanging out with friends & family and fanging cars around the track! Otherwise I play hockey & pole dance (not for dancing dollars though! Roll Eyes)

Hi, my name is Adam (hence the creative username) I'm 45yrs old and live and work in Coffs Harbour, which is on the Mid North Coast of NSW. I along with two other partners own & run a small media company that operates out of the premises of a local TV station. We produce a variety of products from local TV commercials, corporate DVD & A/V presentations to web based content & graphic design. I do a bit of everything but most days you'll find me stuck in a darkened edit suite, surrounded by monitors.
I have a long history with motor vehicles and the enjoyment that comes with owning & maintaining them.....way too many of them too list...but a few that were fun: first car ...1973 LJ Torana (payed $1000 cash and it's mine...then painted it brown???), 1963 Alfa Romeo Guila Sprint GT (never did finish that restoration before selling), 1976 Triumph Dolomite Sprint (should never have finished the restoration.....money pit!!!!). Over the last year that I've had the XR4 I've grown more & more fond of it & continually I'm impressed by the sheer enjoyment that comes from driving it daily.....as far as putting a smile on your dial, this car would win that category over any I've owned before!!

Cheers Adam

FORUM TOKEN ENGINEER ! Cool'n'slippery as ICE!

« Reply #13 on: August 11, 2011, 02:30:18 PM »

WoW, what a diverse group of XR4er's.

I am Adam. I am a Chief Engineer in the Navy, currently working as a Maritime combat engineer and with  Ships Combat Survivability (another name for an over qualified Fireman).

Its a different job I spose and rarely boring.

Moneys good and you get to play with some massive horsepower kit(80000 Hp gas turbines and the like) . Oh oh  Shocked I sound like the 131901 ad. They are recruiting for technical sailors at the moment. Job is not for everyone but singles will have plenty of cash and kit to tweak cars and the lads do. It does get better the longer you stay in.

Anyhow enough recruiting crap. New to the forum, as have only owned the Blu Beasty for a month and have picked up some great info from the members on board. So cheers all and thanks! Wink

Hi, Im Damian or Damo or Numbnutz as some like to call me.

I am 27 years old, have lived in Sydney all my life. I work for Pauls Warehouse as Online Administrator/IT Support Officer and have been doing so for over 7 years. I have a diploma in Business Management and Web

Design. During my school days i worked at Bakers Delight and was is probabaly the best job ive ever had. I also freelance my web services and run Ryde Coast Customs out of my parents driveway.

I was exposed to cars more so during my early teens as my eldest brother was always taking his car a part and putting it back together so always gave him a hand. We both used to race 1/10 Nitro RC cars a few years back which im dying to get back into.

I enjoy detailing the XR4 atleast once a month (My details usually take 8 hours one time two days), watching WRC + F1, playing computer games, downloading torrents, designing websites, catching up with mates for a random drive.
