Sacrificing comfort for style and speed

« on: June 11, 2011, 09:10:27 AM »

Thought it might be helpful to add a white build thread on here, just so people can see what im up to at the moment.

In July 2010, i was looking for proper car that will last me more then 2 years.

came across this white xr4 with under 7000km on the odometer and just had to have it as it stood out to me!

Once i finished paying off my loan on the car, i began to slowly mod with my apprentice wage.

first thing i did was removed the stripes! loved the naked look, no one knew who i was  Grin

next, i remove the standard wheels which had enough gutter rash from the previous owner, and fitted them with speedy lites in 17"
the curved spokes make it appear 16"

loved my rims. still love them now!

next i got a JVC touchscreen head unit, and installed an amp and upgraded all my speakers and a sub  Thumbsup

then i went searching on the UK sites and saw 1 person with st500 stripes. looked good in pictures on his car! but not on mine.. (in my opinion)

so, i removed the bonnet stripes, and kept the side stripes  Thumbsup

after a few weeks of insane saving, i decided to lower it on some pedders ryder lowering springs

ride is so much more comfortable now with the awesome looks of the lower body!

lowwwww

anny way. next thing i did was to paint my plastics black, so, went to my mates work, and we painted them! turned out well, but the front grilles were a pain to sand down!

next thing i did was installed a vacuum gauge due to my hideous lead foot  Tongue

after this i did some pinstriping, as i felt another colour was needed! (a few more pinstripes will be done soon)

after this, my 4 ST badges finally arrived!!! after a longgg hard 5 day trip from the UK  laugh

while i was doing this, i thought ill paint my wing mirrors black  Thumbsup and boy im glad i did it!!!

and as you read this i am building a sub box to house my 12" sub and 2 6x9's

heres a sneaky peak

plans i have at the moment for the future, just to name a few:

new exhaust

18 inch rims

gel overlays

paint headlight plastics black

paint calipers blue

and for power mods, im not sure on what i will do.. either save for a while and but a stage 2.5 supercharger or CAI, 60mm throttle body, full exhaust system, etc. all the simple but powerful mods

anyway theres my car! will take some pictures this weekend of how she stands atm  Smiley

didnt put them there as im substituting them as subwoofers

also replaced all my 5x7's and running 2 amps.

okayyyyy fair update here

well, since the last update here is what has happened

- gave up on the box build as i wanted boot space.. and bought a 15" sub instead   uglystupid2

next i bought a large bore flexi, magnaflow exhaust, KV85 leads, white/black gel overlays, bonnet raisers, painted my headlights black, removed side stripes, put standard wheels back on, pedders 32mm lowering springs (currently on the car), supersport 50mm lowering springs (to be fitted), chrome rocker cover, k&n 57i, st badges, stickers and bigger brakes (to be fitted)

in between all that purchasing, my gearbox decided to die because the diff exploded.. so next (once i aquire more money) will be upgrading the diff to a quiafe and upgrading the clutch while im at it. just so i can be stress free of the fact that it might blow again  Smiley

anyway, heres some piccies..

and in a few weeks this will be in my living room

ill be keeping the fez for a while so this project is now up and running!!

Good one Bryce  Thumbsup

Those Willwoods look the business, and I'll bet they help you stop about 5 seconds before you even think of braking...Wink What MM are the discs? And do I see a reference to them being 6-piston calipers?

Cheers  Thumbsup

Your right, they are 6 piston calipers

The discs are 300mm

It's also came with 10mm spacers and braided brake hoses

Just booked the car in for the 6th march to get the brakes installed. Hope these 4 weeks go by fast  Cheesy
