After 18 months with the XR4 I have decided to purchase a new car. I was dreaming of getting a BMW but I decided to get something more responsible. I took the XR5T for a test drive last Friday and I was frankly fairly unimpressed with the comparison between it and the car I chose.
I picked a very unlikely car, I say unlikely due to heavily endorsing the idea of picking up something European and steering clear of Australian, American and Asian cars.

So I have picked up an MPS, it had things that the XR5T did not including cruise control, an LSD, bluetooth music through your phone and not just calls, satnav, the stereo is better, it's just a more complete car, and after driving the XR4 I found myself at home in the MPS.
I am getting it tomorrow after convincing the Mazda guys tonight to trade in my girlfriends 2004 Echo for $5,000. She will now be taking ownership of the XR4 as she has always liked it and it has been my preference to hold onto it.
I have discovered that the MPS is actually the fastest hatch you can buy in Australia, and the Focus RS is the only one to beat it overseas. Not only that but I never have the misfortune of dealing with Ford Australia again  Thumbsup

I will still have to catch a cruise with you guys one of these days.

One of my mates has the previous model MPS and its shame that they don't know how to drive properly.

Ex-demo. It's been through less than one tank of fuel however.

Nice choice, there! Congrats. The 3 MPS is an absolute rocket! It's coming up to three years since I bought the XR4 and I'm currently tossing up between a 3 MPS and a MK VI Golf GTI. Did you test drive the GTI?

Go for the Golf R!  I've got a mate who's just put in an order for one.  Those things are CRAZY fast!  I read somewhere someone chipped one and got it below 5 seconds for the 0-100km sprint Cheesy

Hehe, the Golf GTI is .1s slower to 100 than my XR4.

I knew that the MPS was the car for me when I drove it, you just know, it's like being Neo and knowing you're 'the one'. Except you're straight.

You'll need to build up your arms for the torque steer and watch you dont pop your motor if you mod it...  Wink

Nah, only teasing. They are a really nice car and the MPS guys seem to have a fairly active forum and run a few cruises, the "smiley" front end would do my head in though...  Tongue

Glad you are keeping the XR4 around though!
